Welcome and Introduction

Girl on Computer

Welcome to the new Curriculum Companion blog!  I invite you to share in the discussion of technology integration in the English Language Arts classroom!  My intent with this blog is to share new technology tools and start the discussion on how to connect these tools with the Open Court, Houghton Mifflin, Holt, and McDougal Littell English Language Arts adoptions.

For those of you who might be unclear as to what the Curriculum Companion is . . . visit our About Us page for a comprehensive overview.  Essentially, Curriculum Companion is a subscription-based website that houses electronic resources directly aligned to the four adoptions referenced above.  We provide graphic organizers, presentations, Internet links, and suggested video titles from Discovery Education streaming (formerly Unitedstreaming) to support technology integration into the ELA classroom.

In addition to the curriculum resources, the site contains tech how-to’s in the form of narrated, multimedia tutorials for the “just in time” help and recorded, archived online classes on technology integration which can be viewed 24/7.  We are always adding new content to the site and a yearly subscription of just $49 allows you access to the newest materials for all four adoptions.

Because the world of technology is in constant flux–changing and evolving to become faster, better, and make us more efficient–it is hard to keep up with all that is available.  This blog will serve as a bridge connecting those new and exciting emerging technologies with the activities and lessons found in the ELA textbooks.

If you are currently using podcasting, wikis, blogs, digital storytelling, Google docs, . . .  with your ELA classroom—please share!
